Although the PSI has a “Declaration of Prohibition Principles” and the G7 Global Partnership, several G7 leaders` declarations, neither has a legally binding document, which sets out specific commitments and is signed or ratified by member states. For example, in historical contracts (signed before 1975), contractual rights and benefits often include, but not always: these agreements define the contractual rights and benefits that persist for each group. Contractual and Aboriginal rights (commonly referred to as Indigenous rights) are recognized and reaffirmed in Section 35 of the Constitution Act, 1982 and are also an important part of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples that the Canadian government has committed to adopt. A contract is void and not abnormal if it is contrary to a peremptory norm. .
